OUR MISSION

The mission of the Office of Research and Grants (ORG) is to provide leadership, information, direction, and assistance for the advancement of research and to increase the volume of grant activity, the quality of grant submissions, and the number of grants awarded to the institution.

SERVICES

ORG serves as the central coordination point for all sponsored grants, contracts and subcontracts, and ensures compliance with the institutional requirements and policies.

  • Identification of potential funding sources
  • Assistance with preparing and submitting grant proposals
  • Facilitation of proposal review
  • Dissemination of information about grant writing and funding sources
  • Publication of periodic grant alerts and grant newsletter
  • Maintenance of grant documents and other related documents
  • Providing necessary administrative support for Scientific Committee and Independent Ethics Committee related activities

Scientific Review Committee (SRC)

Karkinos has an internal scientific committee, chaired by Dr Ramdas, Director of Clinical Operations.

The SRC will primarily focus on the elements of good scientific study design. Proposals will be evaluated for the following criteria:

  • Clarity of the research question
  • Appropriateness and efficiency of design
  • Rigor and feasibility of methods
  • Qualifications and expertise of the research team
  • Pertinence of background material and rationale
  • Adequacy of sample size and relevance of controls and
  • Validity of the statistical analysis plan

Independent Ethics Committee

Karkinos has an Independent Ethics Committee (IEC), with a registered address in Ernakulam Kerala. Karkinos IEC is registered with National Ethics Committee Registry for Biomedical and Health Research (NECRBHR), Department of Health Research (DHR).

IEC will review and approve all types of research proposals involving human participants with a view to safeguard the dignity, rights, safety and well-being of all actual and potential research participants. The goals of research, however important, should never be permitted to override the health and well-being of the research subjects.
